Repair and restoration of over 200 stained glass windows for Grade B listed Mount Zion Church in Quarriers Village, Bridge of Weir, Scotland. Designed by Glasgow architect Robert Bryden of Clarke & Bell and R A Bryden.1888. New windows, secondary safety glazing and new hoppers were also made. 

 

The Mount Zion Church conversion won the Herald Property Award 2010, Best Conversion category, where the balance between the integrity of the original structure and the incorporation of contemporary features is highlighted. Some of the windows in the church are attributed to the work of Stephen Adam (1848-1910).

 

On the left a badly damaged trefoil shaped stained glass window before being repaired. On the right the repaired panel re-installed into the window. As much of the original glass was kept, some smashed glass was bonded back together and some re-painted onto original glass salvaged from other damaged windows.



Each window contained different  flower or fruit themed images. There was very little religious iconography in any of the windows. Some later additions to the church did contain a cross.
